How do Igbos greet each other?

Greetings in Igbo vary by time and occasion:

  • Good morning: Ụtụtụ ọma
  • Good afternoon: Ehihie ọma
  • Good evening: Mgbede ọma
  • How are you? Kedu?
  • I am fine: Ọ dị m mma

In formal settings, greetings are often accompanied by prostration (for men) or kneeling (for women), particularly when addressing elders.
